"This War: The 7-Minute Cancer Cure," is just trying to spark a start, a path forward in challenging Congress to do their job on cancer.
I would hardly call it a song due to my complete lack of any music sensibility. But two great friends, two very talented musicians
Mike LeCompt (M) and George Manney (R) gave countless hours, their hearts and creativity to bring life and hopefully flowability to my words.
Sadly and strangely for Mike and I, just days after finishing up in George's basement recording studio, the longtime Philly rockologist was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer and he died just 8-days later. George's heart, soul and creative force will be with us always as we try to ignite a real war against cancer.
Without LeCompt this project would have never gotten off the ground. All his Philly regional fans know how hard he works most nights playing all over, but he woke early again & again to help "This War" get done. Cancer has impacted his family like many, losing his father & older sister.
Special support on the idea end came from cameramen Pete Suski & Neil Simkanin.
Massive thanks to my boxing family Jimmy Rowan, John Joe Nevin, Bozy & the crew at Harrowgate Boxing Club, GreenBlood Boxing, the Belfast lads Bones, Sugar Ray, Anto, Kassim the Dream, New Ray Robinson, Ryan Coyne, King Joseph Agbeko, Terrible Tim Witherspoon and all the others. A major supporter & key strategist has been London's Ron Boddy, who's wisdom and feedback always provide a path forward.
There are a boatload of others who have helped, all in their own unique ways from David Rowan, Susan Tears, Hollywood Jimmy Brooks, Rob, Ray, Please let me know who I missed.
This project will never work without growing numbers of volunteer cancer souldiers but there will always be a special place for the original crew. And never will we forget the real inspiration in the loved ones lost, Pops & Patti, who had the strength & wisdom of a saint going first. Then last but always my force, my power, my soul driving light Bobbie, who fought with the heroic spirit & strength of the greatest champions. For her, because of her I will always keep fighting.
Slainte,
